Overview

Moodlakatte Institute of Technology Kundapura (MITK), established in 2004 under the Moodlakatte Nagarathna Bhujanga Shetty Trust, founded by the visionary Late Shri I M Jayaram Shetty, has a two-decade legacy of developing industry-ready professionals. MITK offers undergraduate programs in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI & ML), Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Information Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering (AI & ML) and Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science). Additionally, we provide a Postgraduate Master of Business Administration (MBA) with Dual Specialization. We are excited to introduce our new Postgraduate program, the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) approved by AICTE New Delhi and affiliated with VTU Belagavi, from the academic year 2024-25.

The Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program at Moodlakatte Institute of Technology Kundapura (MITK) is tailored to equip students with the necessary IT skills to meet the demands of the ever-evolving tech industry. This professional course focuses on nurturing students for thriving careers in IT by emphasizing the development of both application and system software. Throughout the two-year duration, students engage in interactive learning, coupled co-curricular and extra-curricular activities including hands-on industrial training projects. The curriculum covers key areas such as transaction processing, database management, e-commerce, networking, simulation, embedded technologies, and more, preparing graduates to excel in diverse IT roles.

PO1: Foundation/Strengthening the core: Acquire in-depth computational knowledge and mathematics with an ability to abstract and conceptualize models from defined problems and requirements

PO2: Problem Solving Skill: Identify, formulate, conduct literature survey and solve complex computing problems through analysis as well as provide optimal solutions

PO3: Design, Development of Applications: Design and evaluate solutions for complex problems, components or processes that meet specified needs after considering public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental factors

PO4: Conduct investigations of complex problems: Conduct literature survey to analyze and extract information relevant to unfamiliar problems and synthesize information to provide valid conclusions and interpret data by applying appropriate research methods, tools and design experiments

PO5: Modern Tool Usage: Create, select, adapt and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern IT tools to complex computing system activities, with an understanding of the limitations

PO6: Professional Ethics: Understand and commit to professional ethics and cyber regulations, responsibilities, and norms of professional computing practices

PO7: Individual and Team Work: Function effectively as an individual, as a member or leader in diverse teams in multidisciplinary environments

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have passed BCA, a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering, or an equivalent qualification
Alternatively, candidates with a B.Sc., B.Com., or B.A. degree, having studied Mathematics at the 10+2 level or during graduation, are eligible. Those from non-computer backgrounds may need to take additional bridge courses as the university prescribes
Applicants must have obtained at least 50% marks in the qualifying exam (45% for reserved category candidates)

For admissions through the PGCET and Roaster System of the Karnataka Government:

Candidates must take the Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). Admission under the government quota will be based on the rank secured in this exam

For admission under the Management Quota:

Candidates must have appeared for the PGCET or the Karnataka Management Aptitude Test (KMAT) or any other approved entrance exam recognized by the Government of Karnataka or VTU
