World Environment Day Celebration at Moodlakatte MIT College: Range Forest Officer Tulasi Calls for a Greener Future

Kundapura: The renowned Moodlakatte Engineering College (MIT Kundapura) meaningfully celebrated ‘World Environment Day’ on June 5th. Under this year’s global environmental theme—”Serve BRICS 2026: Volunteering for a Better Tomorrow”—a special awareness program was organized on campus. The chief guest, Tulasi, the Social Forestry Range Officer of Kundapura, inaugurated the event by planting a sapling. Addressing the students, she said, “Environmental protection should not be limited to just one day. As technology advances, the pressure on nature increases. As future engineers, students should prioritize eco-friendly innovations, and everyone must take responsibility to plant and nurture trees in their daily lives.”

Another chief guest, Assistant Range Forest Officer Nagesh Billava, remarked, “The survival of humanity depends on the survival of forests and the environment. Today, it is urgent that the younger generation develops a self-driven concern for the environment.”

The program was presided over by the college principal, Dr. Ramakrishna Hegde, who explained the importance of environmental conservation to the students. Professor Balanageshwar, the event coordinator, college faculty, staff, and students were present at the event and took an oath to protect the environment. The campus saw successful cleanliness drives and a green campaign with tree planting activities led by the students.
