The Department is pillared by the qualified and experienced faculty and maintains a student staff ratio of 20:1. The department has a good record of organizing seminars, workshops, and conferences in emerging technological areas. The department has an excellent Computer Centre which is equipped with the latest hardware and legal software to carry out the innovative projects and to upgrade the practical knowledge of students and faculties. Both Students and Faculties are encouraged to participate in the workshops, technical competitions, and project exhibitions.
Faculty members of the Computer Science and Engineering department are highly productive educators and Researchers. They are experts in their respective domain and train the students to gain practical knowledge on current technologies in the industries. The Department of Information Science & Engineering, Moodlakatte Institute of Technology (MITK), Kundapura is organizing a one-day webinar on “Machine Learning” on 12th February 2025 at 09:00 AM in Lab 204 & 205.The session will be delivered by Dr. Shailesh Sivan, Principal AI Architect at AJML Consultant, Kerala, who will provide valuable insights into the fundamentals, applications, and current trends in Machine Learning. The webinar aims to enhance students’ and faculty members’ understanding of ML concepts and their real-world implementations.This webinar is coordinated by Mr. Gagan Bangera and Mrs. Lakshmi G, convened by Dr. J. Prakash (HOD, ISE), under the patronage of Dr. Ramakrishna Hegde (Principal).
MITK College organized a Tree Plantation Drive as part of its Social and Community Responsibility (SCR) initiative to promote environmental awareness and sustainability. Students and faculty actively participated in planting saplings within the campus premises, highlighting the importance of greenery and eco-friendly practices. This activity encouraged social responsibility and contributed towards creating a cleaner and healthier environment.

Kundapura, Oct. 29 — The Department of Information Science and Engineering at Moodlakatte Institute of Technology (MIT), Kundapura, organized the inauguration of its departmental forum InfoSci at the college seminar hall. The ceremony was inaugurated by Shri Siddartha J. Shetty, Chairman of IMJ Institutions. The event was graced by Dr. Ramakrishna Hegde, Principal and Chief Guest; Dr. S. N. Bhatt, Director of Academics; and Dr. Melwin D’Souza, Vice Principal. The function was presided over by Dr. J. Prakash, Head of the Department of Information Science and Engineering. The program began with a prayer song, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp.
The dignitaries spoke on the importance of innovation, teamwork, and leadership among students. The InfoSci Forum Logo was officially unveiled during the ceremony, symbolizing unity, creativity, and technological spirit.The newly elected office bearers of the forum took an oath to uphold the values of teamwork and professionalism under the guidance of Assistant Professors Mr. Gagan Bangera and Ms. Lakshmi G. As part of the forum activities, several technical and co-curricular competitions were held. Winners were felicitated during the inauguration ceremony. The inauguration marked a vibrant beginning for the InfoSci Forum 2025–26, reflecting the enthusiasm and creativity of MIT Kundapura’s young minds.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Department of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI-ML) in association with Coding Club were proud to host a coding competition on August 5, 2023. This competition was exclusively designed for 2nd Year CSE and AI-ML students, providing them with a platform to showcase their coding skills and problem-solving abilities. The event aimed to foster a spirit of healthy competition, encourage collaborative learning, and promote excellence in coding within the department. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from 2nd Year CSE and AI-ML students. The participants displayed a high level of enthusiasm and interest in solving challenging coding problems. In order to commemorate Vana Mahotsava week from 11th July ,2023 to 14th July, 2023, the National Service Scheme unit of MIT-Kundapura planted tree saplings across the campus grounds. Fourth semester CSE students participated actively in the NSS event “Vanamahotsava,” which celebrated and promoted environmental protection. Students met on the college grounds to plant a substantial number of tree saplings under the supervision of NSS Chief Coordinator Prof. Balanageshwara. S and NSS Coordinator Prof. Smithashree.
The 6th Semester CSE students at MITK participated in a two-day workshop on “Android Application Development” from June 9 to June 10, 2023. The workshop was led by Mr. Lokesh Marathi, Mr. P Aryan, Mr. Tejas H V, and Mr. Bharath Babu, students of 6th semester CS
Team of MIT Kundapura recently won the first place in Karnataka State and overall sixth place in India in Skill-A-Thon competition organized by UI PATH, which is aimed to recognize Institutions who excel in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Citizenship. The team from MIT Kundapura built 200 bots and won this competition. Skill-A-Thon 2022 was an effort to help students build citizen developers and deploy basic robots to see the power of a digital assistant. The competition was organised for the first and second year Engineering students across India. Dr. Abdul Kareem, Principal MIT Kundapura, received the certificate for the same from Mr. Vignesh Shetty of ICT Academy. Faculty Prof. Amruthmala, Prof. Akshatha, Prof.Manoj Kumar and students Mr. Sibi Sabastin and Ms. Meghana II year AI & ML coordinated the event.
Department of CSE in association with the Department of AIML organized a talk on “Social Responsibility of Youth” on 22 February, 2023. Resource person Dr. Shreesha Bhat, Managing Trustee, Akanksha Charitable Trust, Puttur shared his valuable insights and information on the topic to the students. The speaker highlighted the benefits of Cultivating the routine of reading the News, in addition to that listening to the News regularly which will enrich our general knowledge in every respect.
The Department of CSE in association with the Department of AIML organized a Hands-on workshop on February 11, 2023. Mr.Krishnaraj Chadaga,Research Scholar, MIT, Manipal MAHE was the resource person of the workshop. The title of his topic was “ Python Basics Using Google Colab” In the session, he gave Introduction to Python and Google Colab. He continued the session by giving hands on training to the students on necessary steps to set up the environment for Python along with live coding examples.
Together with National Service Scheme (NSS), students of the college conducted Clean Campus Drive on 29th March 2023 under the supervision of Prof. Muralidhara, H.O.D, Department of CSE along with the able guidance of Dr.Abdul Kareem, Principal MIT Kundapura . The 6th Sem students of CSE cleaned the college campus and collected plastic garbage from every nook and cranny of the college premises. The purpose of the activity was to clean the surrounding area of campus and to give awareness on maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings.
Dr. Abhilash K Pai, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Data Science & Computer Applications, Manipal Institute of Technology, presented a technical talk on “Demystifying Deep Learning: Unleashing the Power of Neural Networks.”, organized by the Department of CSE in association with Department of AIML for the students on 15th March 2023. During the first session of the talk, he spoke about the waves of effort that we are seeing in networking community to develop Deep Neural Networks (DNNs). In the second session, the speaker presented the topic of the day provided insights about Deep Neural Networks and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), The Constituent layers of CNN’s and Taxonomy of popular CNN’s.
The Department of CSE in association with AI&ML and ECE organized an expert talk on “My three decades Journey with IEEE” on 11th February 2023. Dr. Niranjan U.C, Director of Research & Training, Manipal Dot Net Pvt.Ltd and past Chair IEEE-MSS was invited as the resource person. During the session, Resource Person emphasized the advantages of students being associated with reputed International associations like IEEE. He explained how the IEEE helps to build the personality of engineering students and orient them towards Research.
Won First prize at the NITTE Young Entrepreneurs summit for their NaviC-based indigenous navigation application and they received 5K as prize money.

As a Technology Business Incubator, we have some of the best facilities in the Karavali region to host startups from various Industrial domains such as Tech, Fintech, Agritech, IT, Mechatronics, etc. and mentor and nurture them. we have high-end computing facilities, modern workspace, Library & information centre, 3D printers and other necessary equipment and facilities, training and conference facilities, etc. to name a few. TBI conducts various entrepreneurial sessions, seminars and conferences for startups. It also connects the right industrial mentors which best suited for the budding startups and call for various funding meetups & rounds and pitch deck presentations for getting financial support from government and private investors.
